Wallace Taroo "Wally" Oppal is a Canadian lawyer, former judge, and politician. Born in 1940 in Vancouver, British Columbia, he served as a judge on the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Court of Appeal before entering politics. Oppal was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Vancouver-Fraserview in 2005 and served as Attorney General of British Columbia until 2009. He later chaired the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry and has been involved in legal mediation and arbitration. He has also served as Chancellor of Thompson Rivers University and is a recipient of the Order of British Columbia.
