Founded in 1969, the Gujarati Society of British Columbia is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering community spirit by connecting and supporting both youth and seniors through events and activities, such as Diwali celebrations, Navrati festivals, and bhajans.

Burnaby South Secondary School and The British Columbia Provincial School for The Deaf are both located on one campus within the Burnaby School District. The current building opened in 1993 in south central Burnaby, incorporating many of the latest building, communication and computer technologies available.

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance, originating from the Tamil Nadu region in southern India. It is characterized by precise movements of the arms, neck, and shoulders; sharp edges of the legs in a characteristic squat; and story-telling through hands gestures and facial expressions.

Garba is a ritualistic and devotional dance that is performed on the occasion of the Hindu festival of Navaratri, which is dedicated to the worship of the feminine energy or "shakti." It is a joyful dance, where the dancers move in fluid circular patterns and side to side while singing and clapping their hands in unison.
