Sonu Nigam was born on July 30, 1973 in Faridabad in Haryana, India. Best known for his work as a playback singer for Indian films, Sonu Nigam is also a noted pop and classical vocalist and composer who performs in a variety of languages. Nigam began his singing career at the age of four, when he performed in a duet with his father, Agam Kumar Nigam, a noted singer. He won his first Filmfare Award as Best Male Playback Singer for the title track to the 2002 romantic drama Saathiya. In 2023, Nigam was honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, in recognition of his immense contributions to Indian music.
